Патент
Монопольное право автора на использование своего изобретения в течение установленного срока. Право регистрируется в законодательном порядке уполномоченным государственным органом. С экономической точки зрения защита патентных прав считается важным стимулом научно-технического прогресса, поскольку предоставляет изобретателям возможность возмещать свои из держки и получать вознаграждение за риск. Чтобы предотвратить опасность монополистической эксплуатации, патенты выдаются на ограниченный период времени. В Великобритании максимальный срок, на который предоставляется патентное право, составляет 20 лет. См. Intellectual property rights, Research and development. -
